    April musings

Whether you’re keeping a diary, writing blog posts, or simply tweeting and Instagramming your way through this, it’s going to be quite something to go back in a few years time and read what went on in the spring of 2020. I didn’t realise that a global pandemic was what it would take for me to get my blogging boots on again, but I suppose I’ve got a bit more time on my hands at the moment.

In the last few weeks I’ve found myself doing something I haven’t done in a long time; reading blogs. It’s serving as a great way to inspire me to write more regularly myself, and I’m really glad for it.

I still follow a lot of the people I used to connect with in the old days of blogging. I’ve always been a bit of an outlier in terms of community; in real life and online, I’ve never really found it that easy to throw myself into new friendships. I watch people on my social media accounts make online friends that turn into hard and fast offline friendships, and find myself green with envy. But aside from some brief dalliances, it’s not something I’ve been able to do.

Life in lockdown goes on, and I’m trying to keep myself busy. Besides the blogging, I’ve been knitting, cross-stitching, updating my bullet journal, and getting stuck into some genealogy research. I have started sending out a weekly email newsletter to my family, and I’m in the process of making a zine of sorts for my nieces. I’m watching Waking the Dead on iPlayer, coming to the end of an MCU rewatch, and listening to more radio and podcasts. I’m reading loads more; I took advantage of last week’s very sunny spell to sit outside and spend hours getting through some of the hundreds of books on my to-read list.

I wonder what I’ll be writing in May musings – more of the same, or something a little different? Place your bets.
