These posts were born out of another blog that I read a little while ago; they were like a stream of consciousness and I quite liked the idea of them, but I’m not sure how well they work for me.
Like many, many other people, the last few weeks have been monumental for me in terms of me confronting my own complicity in white supremacy, and working hard to support Black people and the BLM campaign. I know that I need to educate myself, and that’s what I’ve been trying to do. I’ve found this to be a pretty good resource for reading and action points, if anyone is looking for some direction.
Another weekend under lockdown (such as it is) has come and gone. I’m feeling more and more like we’re going to reach a point where all the restrictions are just lifted, because we have to get the economy moving again, but at such massive risk to life. I want to see everyone that I love again, but I’m more than a little bit worried about it all.
I’ve just started watching a show called Zoey’s Infinite Playlist; it’s really fun and entertaining, with a ridiculous premise (during an MRI, something malfunctions and causes Zoey to hear people’s inner thoughts in the form of songs). My only complaint is that three episodes in, there’s one non cis-het character, and for a show that is set in San Francisco, that feels like a massive oversight.
