The Bangles

I’ve had this House of Fraser bangle for a while, but haven’t had the opportunity to take photos of me wearing it. Then I had plans to go to Baby Shower, and I was wearing my current favourite dress, so I thought it was the perfect chance to get my friend Hannah to snap some shots. As ever, I should probably apologise for the slightly awkward look (although I think I am getting better), but I do think that my hair looks pretty amazing. I’ve recently had it cut, and it’s always at its best for the first couple of days after a major cut!

They aren’t proper outfit photos, because I was wearing a pair of shoes that I didn’t like, so I told Hannah to leave them out! I need a pair of nice black shoes; when I bought this dress and cardigan, I bought a pair of black brogues at the same time that I love, and I lived in them for months, but then I put them in a bag and took them to London when I was working away for a few days, and when I came to look at them, one of them was broken. Properly broken too – the sole was completely snapped in half! So now I am on the lookout for another pair of black brogues, and I am thinking I might want to spend some decent money on them this time!

Gryffindor, Where Dwell the Brave at Heart

You may remember, a couple of months ago, that I shared some photographs of me looking awkward in a Hogwarts t-shirt from Primark. Well now it’s time for you to see me looking equally awkward in a Gryffindor t-shirt from Primark!

I think Primark are smashing it with regards to t-shirts at the moment. Every time I go in there, I want another one, and if I can find my size (which usually I can’t, because they only seem to get about three size 16s in and they sell like hot cakes), I will buy one. My best friend Anna has become my t-shirt dealer; she phoned me a few weeks ago to say that she had seen a Gryffindor t-shirt and did I want one, and then at the weekend she presented me with a Jurassic Park tee because I had gone on and on about it the other day when we were together, and she had seen my size. It’s definitely worth having her as a best friend!

Given the opportunity, I’d have all four house t-shirts, and I have seen Slytherin and Hufflepuff, but never in my size. But Pottermore stuck me in Gryffindor, so these are my colours, as it were, and I am fond of red and gold.

Blazer ~ Stolen from my sister ~ Primark
Jeans ~ £13 (sale) ~ New Look
Sandals ~ c/o Clarks

My jeans are also new – I needed a pair of new skinny jeans after I discovered that my old ones were starting to get a bit holey. When I found a pair in the sale in New Look, I tried them on, only to discover that they were reversible! I didn’t need too much convincing to buy them – two pairs of jeans for the price of one, reduced to £13, and I had a voucher. You can’t really say fairer than that!

My sister-in-law Kelly took the shots, she is actually a photographer, so I could have asked her to do a proper shoot, but I just shoved my camera in her hand when we were walking through the park and asked her if she would take some photos. Ever the professional, she gave me some tips (‘chin up!”) and then insisted on a jumping shot, which she always makes people do! I love a jumping shot, so I didn’t need asking twice. (Actually I did need asking twice, because I was worried people were going to laugh, but I just tucked in my top and got on with it. And we got it first time!)

Ever the awkward non-fashion blogger, she did the best she could, and I love the top photo, of me with an ice cream! I think it’s the knee bend – it makes me feel like a proper blogger!

Be True to Your School

Look; you wait six months for an outfit post, and then two come along at once! Not that I suppose for one minute you were waiting for more photos of me looking awkward, but there you have it. It’s time for another outfit post, because as I mentioned in my last one, I have another outfit that I love. Well, a top that I love really. It’s true love too; I bought this top a week ago in Primark, and given the opportunity, I’d have worn it every day since. But that’s dirty, and probably unnecessary, so I have to be a grown up about it, and only wear it sparingly. Like once or twice a week.

How incredibly awesome is this t-shirt? Seriously, I am completely and utterly in love with it. It’s not just that it’s a Hogwarts t-shirt, though obviously that’s the crux of it, because I am and will always be a Harry Potter devotee. But look at the shape of it. It’s perfection, to me. I loved it when I saw it in the shop, because of the Hogwarts crest, but I felt like the 16, which is the size I would normally buy, looked massive. But they didn’t have a smaller size, so I got it and thought that I’d take it back if it wasn’t right. It’s so right. It’s so so so wonderful, I love the way I look in it. I want to wear it forever. I also bought the shoes and the bag on the same shopping trip, and I love them too. Especially the bag.

Specspost Pink Giraffe Glasses

I’m also wearing my new (ish) Specspost glasses. They were very kind to provide me with a pair of their glasses from their Animalistic range to review, and I have been wearing them for a while without having posted a review! I’m not generally one for animal print, but I loved that these were a giraffe print, and the subtle pinkness of them. I think they are super cool, and while they might be ever so slightly large for my face, I don’t care. I love the Specspost Animalistic range, so much so that I’m considering a pair of sunglasses, possibly these Orange Tiger ones.

Patterned Trousers are my Jam

It’s been so long since I did an outfit post! It was actually November, and the plan was to do at least one a month so that I could complete my 32 Before 32 goal of doing ten before my birthday. That sort of went by the wayside when I decided I wanted to take my blog off in a different direction. But I wanted to resurrect them slightly for two reasons. Firstly, my 32 Before 32 list is not going well, so it would be nice to try and get another one crossed off. And secondly, I have had a bit more money to spend lately, so I’ve bought a few new bits of clothing, and I have loved two recent outfits so much that I wanted to share them. So there’s this one today, and another one coming shortly!

Trousers ~ Peacocks
Top ~ Topshop (old)
Denim Jacket ~ Very old!
Sandals ~ Clarks

I’m having a major love affair with patterned trousers at the moment. I had one pair, also from Peacocks, from a few years ago, but they have seen better days, so I’ve been on the lookout for a few more pairs this year. I managed to pick up a pair in a charity shop a few weeks ago, and then I came across these on the sale rail in Peacocks. They were reduced to £9, but they only had one size smaller than my usual size, so I tried them on. I never, ever try anything on in shops, so it should give you some indication of how much I wanted these! They were a perfect fit, so they were mine! And when I went to the till, they were reduced even further, to £7. What a bargain.

Usually I apologise for face in outfit photos, but I’m not going to this time. I don’t think I look particularly awkward for once. And I actively like the second photo!

BEDN ~ What I Wore on my Birthday

Last week was my 31st birthday, and though I’ve mentioned it a couple of times on here (quite a few probably), it’s not really my style to do a ‘Look what I got for my birthday’ type of post. I got some lovely presents, and I’m very grateful for them, but I’m not going to devote a post to them!

But I did get dressed on my birthday with the intention of having my friend Hannah (who took me out for lunch) take some outfit photos. The main reason for this is that I wanted to show off my Mickey and Minnie Mouse tights, which you may remember from my Photo an Hour post last week. They have the official title of Best Tights in the World. I spotted them in Primark at Westfield when I was out with my sisters and dad recently, and when I said I liked them, my sister Kim bought them for me, because she’s a brilliant sister.

Blazer ~ Debenhams (from a charity shop)
Skirt ~ c/o F&F at Tesco
Top ~ Primark
Scarf ~ Yours
Boots ~ c/o F&F at Tesco
Tights ~ Primark
Bag ~ Primark

You see what I mean about the tights being the Best Tights in the World? I love them! Sadly, I got more than one hole in them after wearing them for just a day. They are quite thin, and I kept putting my finger through them when I tried to pull them up. Boo!

The photos were taken in Maldon, as they so often are. It was a very cold and windy day, hence the hair in my face! I am always so uncomfortable when I am posing for outfit shots that there are only usually one or two that are usable, and these were the best of a bad bunch!

I do love this outfit though. I love the blazer, because it was a charity shop bargain, and the scarf was a bargain at just 80p from Yours. It was reduced from about £8 too, so I was very pleased when I spotted it in their sale section!

This the first of at least ten outfit posts I plan to do as part of my 32 Before 32 list. I’m trying to get better at posing, and hopefully, there should be a noticeable difference between this, the first post, and the last one. We will see!
