Gryffindor, Where Dwell the Brave at Heart

You may remember, a couple of months ago, that I shared some photographs of me looking awkward in a Hogwarts t-shirt from Primark. Well now it’s time for you to see me looking equally awkward in a Gryffindor t-shirt from Primark!

I think Primark are smashing it with regards to t-shirts at the moment. Every time I go in there, I want another one, and if I can find my size (which usually I can’t, because they only seem to get about three size 16s in and they sell like hot cakes), I will buy one. My best friend Anna has become my t-shirt dealer; she phoned me a few weeks ago to say that she had seen a Gryffindor t-shirt and did I want one, and then at the weekend she presented me with a Jurassic Park tee because I had gone on and on about it the other day when we were together, and she had seen my size. It’s definitely worth having her as a best friend!

Given the opportunity, I’d have all four house t-shirts, and I have seen Slytherin and Hufflepuff, but never in my size. But Pottermore stuck me in Gryffindor, so these are my colours, as it were, and I am fond of red and gold.

My jeans are also new – I needed a pair of new skinny jeans after I discovered that my old ones were starting to get a bit holey. When I found a pair in the sale in New Look, I tried them on, only to discover that they were reversible! I didn’t need too much convincing to buy them – two pairs of jeans for the price of one, reduced to £13, and I had a voucher. You can’t really say fairer than that!

My sister-in-law Kelly took the shots, she is actually a photographer, so I could have asked her to do a proper shoot, but I just shoved my camera in her hand when we were walking through the park and asked her if she would take some photos. Ever the professional, she gave me some tips (‘chin up!”) and then insisted on a jumping shot, which she always makes people do! I love a jumping shot, so I didn’t need asking twice. (Actually I did need asking twice, because I was worried people were going to laugh, but I just tucked in my top and got on with it. And we got it first time!)

Ever the awkward non-fashion blogger, she did the best she could, and I love the top photo, of me with an ice cream! I think it’s the knee bend – it makes me feel like a proper blogger!

I Heart This Dress

By now, I think most of my regular readers will know me pretty well. I’m not really a fashion blogger. As a lifestyle blogger, I like to think that I can write about whatever takes my fancy really, but that doesn’t often involve me showing photos of myself wearing different outfits. There are a number of reasons for this, but I think the two most important ones are: i) I don’t own enough lovely clothes, and ii) I think I look like an idiot in most outfit photos that I try to take.

But I’m trying really hard to overcome this fear I have, because every now and again I wear something that I love, and I want to post about it! A few weeks ago, I posted a couple of outfit photos to Instagram, and today, I’m bringing you an outfit post on the blog!

Firstly, a couple of disclaimers. The photos aren’t the best quality, because I hadn’t planned to take them, and so hadn’t brought along a decent camera. Secondly, I’m pulling a really silly face in the main photo. But I really wanted to share these photos, because I’m in love with this dress. So bad quality photos and silly face be damned; I’m sharing!

I bought this dress last week when I stopped off at Westfield Stratford after my trip to London. I was after a new dress, and I wanted one in a similar style to two others I have, because they are really flattering. They didn’t have any, so I settled for this one (at the bargainous price of £8), and I’m so glad I did. It’s my new favourite dress. It’s a wee bit snug, and I have a bit of a battle to get the zip all the way up, but once it’s done, I think it’s another flattering fit. I love the sleeves, which you can see better in the photo below, I love the way it pulls me in a the waist and flares out slightly. Mostly I love the way I feel in it, and for £8, I think that’s pretty good value for money!

The photos were taken at the Bungalow Diner, in Marks Tey, where I went for dinner with my friend Hannah on Saturday night. It’s one of those places that looks a bit odd from the outside, but once you are inside it’s like a proper fifties diner. I love it, and the food was tasty!

Have you seen this dress in Primark? I am hoping it’s available in different styles so I can buy up lots of them!

Right now, I am mostly…

Watching: Lost, with my friend Jen. I’ve just finished Season 3, and I do love it. I have crushes on most of the men (though not Jack, obviously), and a fair few of the women.

Listening : Bon Jovi’s new album, What About Now. Luckily it’s on Spotify, because I can’t afford to buy it right now, and I need to know it before I go and see them in July!

Reading : I’m getting through The Presidents Club, which I have been reading for ages! I am enjoying it, but it’s one that I put down and pick up quite frequently. Almost done though – it’s a chronological history of how the presidents use their predecessors and I’m up to Bush 41.

Wearing : My new Primark skirt. I love it, and if I get brave enough, I may even do a outfit post at some point.

Making : Plans!
