I have been meaning to post about this for a while, but keep forgetting, but today is the day! A while ago, just a month before me, my best friend Anna turned thirty. I knew that I wanted to give her something special as a gift, because it’s not everyday that your BFF turns thirty. As I don’t have a lot of spare money at the moment, it had to be done a bit of a budget, and in the end I came up with a photo album of sorts.
I bought a plain book from Paperchase, and set about filling it with photos. I didn’t want to do a scrapbook as such, because we’ve done all that before, so I decided to keep it simple and just stick the photos in and write a little something on the page with them.
Anna and I have been friends for over ten years, so there were a lot of photos to choose from! I had to narrow it down to about sixty, if I remember rightly. I wanted to get a good variety, some from way back and some from more recently.
This is the early photograph I have of the two of us – we both look utterly delightful in our early 00s dresses, but it had to go in!
This one is the most recent photo I had of us at the time. The album is full of photos of Anna and me, along with the rest of Team VAJJ, with Rob there for many special moments too!
The front cover was the most challenging really, because I’m not terribly artistic, and the ideas that I have in my head rarely turn out the way I want them to. Add to this the fact that I was having to make use of the things I already had, rather than buying things specifically, and I thought it was going to be a disaster. But I was actually rather pleased with it! I even managed to cover it with sticky back plastic (to prevent damage), and didn’t get any major bubbles!
So that’s that. A DIY, though not a tutorial. I just wanted to share it because I was quite proud of it, so it’s nice to look back on it with pride!
