I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow

I’m a blogger, and it snowed heavily this weekend. This post should come as no great surprise!

It seemed like we were never going to get the snow in my my neck of the woods, but finally we did today. I woke up to it this morning, and decided to go for a lovely walk with my sister. I love walking in snow, and it’s a fairly good work out too, because you have to work that much harder!

I didn’t take too many photos, because my battery died, but I thought I’d share what I did take! PICT0269 PICT0270 PICT0271 PICT0272 PICT0273 PICT0274 PICT0275 55b48106631d11e29f7222000a9f130b_7

Uni Memories

Looking through some photos on Facebook, I came across some that we took when I was in my third year. Using Hannah’s camera, we messed around for ages in Top Bar with the multi-shot feature, and I realised today that these photos, which don’t really work in a Facebook photo album, would be perfect to make GIFs. So I made some, using Make a Gif. They aren’t perfect, but they are fun, and I’m going to be making use of the multi-shot feature on my own camera in the future so I can make some more!

Sorry if these make your head hurt.

Hannah doing… something. And then laughing.

There’s another one of me, sticking my middle finger up, but I don’t want to share it because it’s terribly unladylike of me.

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway, by the way, it closes on Friday!

A-Z Photo Challenge

In January, on Instagram, I have been taking part in the FMSPhotoADay Challenge. I have missed a few days here and there, but I’ve managed most days so far. Last year, I tried to take part in Project 365, taking a photo a day, every day, for the whole year. I failed miserably. I can’t commit to something on such a long-term scale.

So this year I have decided that I am going to try and do a monthly challenge, every month, for the whole year. Breaking it down month-by-month feels much more sensible and achievable. And having a prompt for each day certainly helps too. As I said, I’ve already missed a couple of days, so I know that at the end of the year I won’t have a full 365 photos, but as I’m not actually attempting Project 365, I don’t see it as a failure.

For February, I was thinking about looking out for another Instagram challenge, to help me through. And then I realised that there are 28 days in February, and 26 letters of the alphabet. I did an A-Z Photo Challenge last February that was organised by another blogger, so I thought that this year I would do one myself. I am opening it up to anyone that wants to join in, the rules are simple:

  • For each day (the first 26, anyway) of February you take a photograph of something beginning with the corresponding letter.
  • It doesn’t have to be a literal interpretation, it can be anything you like. Freedom for F, for example, or Quarantine for Q. It’s entirely up to you.
  • You don’t have to post to Instagram if you have it, or don’t want to. You can post to Twitter, or to Facebook, or to Flickr, or Tumblr. It’s really just a way to get you taking a photo every day!
  • Talking of which, you don’t have to join in every day. You can miss out A-G, hop in with H, I and J, and then give up, if you want. You can join in when you remember, and miss days when you forget, and nobody will mind!
  • If you have an old photo that fits the letter perfectly, feel free to use it. I am going to try to take a new photo a day, because that’s will challenge me more, but again, it’s up to you!
  • There are 28 days in February, but only 26 letters in the alphabet. So I have just picked a prompt for the last two days, ‘You’ for the 27th and ‘Us’ for the 28th.
  • Use the hashtag #ITYDPhotoChallenge on Twitter or Instagram so I can see your photos!

You can comment on this post to let me know you are joining in, or you can tweet me @janeylambert. I really hope you all want to get involved!

A Birthday Present for a BFF

I have been meaning to post about this for a while, but keep forgetting, but today is the day! A while ago, just a month before me, my best friend Anna turned thirty. I knew that I wanted to give her something special as a gift, because it’s not everyday that your BFF turns thirty. As I don’t have a lot of spare money at the moment, it had to be done a bit of a budget, and in the end I came up with a photo album of sorts.

I bought a plain book from Paperchase, and set about filling it with photos. I didn’t want to do a scrapbook as such, because we’ve done all that before, so I decided to keep it simple and just stick the photos in and write a little something on the page with them.

IMAG0201Anna and I have been friends for over ten years, so there were a lot of photos to choose from! I had to narrow it down to about sixty, if I remember rightly. I wanted to get a good variety, some from way back and some from more recently.

IMAG0161This is the early photograph I have of the two of us – we both look utterly delightful in our early 00s dresses, but it had to go in!

IMAG0217This one is the most recent photo I had of us at the time. The album is full of photos of Anna and me, along with the rest of Team VAJJ, with Rob there for many special moments too!

IMAG0210The front cover was the most challenging really, because I’m not terribly artistic, and the ideas that I have in my head rarely turn out the way I want them to. Add to this the fact that I was having to make use of the things I already had, rather than buying things specifically, and I thought it was going to be a disaster. But I was actually rather pleased with it! I even managed to cover it with sticky back plastic (to prevent damage), and didn’t get any major bubbles!

So that’s that. A DIY, though not a tutorial. I just wanted to share it because I was quite proud of it, so it’s nice to look back on it with pride!
