There you stand in your dungarees

I have a thing for dungarees. I have a pair of short ones, but I’ve been on the lookout for some full-length ones for a while, and when I found a culotte-style pair, I couldn’t resist.

And with new clothes, comes the once-every-couple-of-years urge I get to do some outfit photos. I am under no illusion that I look like a bit of an idiot, and I feel so awkward while I’m doing them (even though my photographer, Hannah, is awesome and great at taking photos and just generally wonderful), but I’m trying hard to do things that I want to do, and overcome awkwardness and nervousness.

As you can see from the photos, I am a bit squinty, and that’s because it was such a sunny Sunday! We haven’t had too much sunshine in recent weeks, so it was nice to have an entire weekend of it, even if it was still very much on the chilly side. Spring has not yet sprung, and as I write this, the skies are very grey and full of the promise of rain, but there’s the promise of better weather in the air.

One more photo then, with a filter on it, because I think I look uber-cool in a seventies kind of way. I’m never going to be a fashion blogger, but these little forays into outfit posts are fun from time to time!

Choice Discount

A few weeks ago, I had a lovely parcel arrive; a load of Choice Discount goodies! They had been in contact with me to see if I would like to receive some bits to try out and share with my readers – who am I to refuse such a request? I don’t visit Choice Discount stores as much as I would like, as they aren’t terribly local to me, but their website will be launching soon, and that means shopping all those lovely bargains from the comfort of my own home!

Sadly the photos I took didn’t turn out too well – I had planned proper full length outfit photos, but tripod issues stymied me, and then most of the photos I took were out of focus! But there were a couple that were OK, and I picked the best one of them to show you the top that I got sent. Sophie, the lady I was working with, said that she had seen from my blog that I liked prints, so she picked out this top for me. It’s always nice when people actually take the time to read your blog and get to know you a bit! I do really like the top; I especially like how it is a big longer at the back, though I did find I had to wear a vest underneath it, just to make sure there were no embarrassing muffin top issues!

I also received the sunglasses and the bag from Choice Discount – you can never have two many pairs of sunglasses, so I was really pleased to get them! And the bag has become the one I grab every day; it’s the perfect size, because it doesn’t look huge, but it’s massive inside. Seriously, I’m always losing my phone in there. I wasn’t sure about the fringe at first, but now I love it.

Choice Discount also sent me a lovely purple butterfly scarf, and some raspberry and blackberry body butter. The body butter smells utterly divine, and I almost lost the scarf to my seven-year old niece the other day, as she was prancing round the house in it for ages!

I loved my little package from Choice Discount, and like I said, they will be launching their website soon, so even if you don’t live in Essex, you can still partake in their lovely bargains!

* I received these items free of charge from Choice Discount, but as ever, all reviews and posts on Is That You Darling represent my true opinions.

Be True to Your School

Look; you wait six months for an outfit post, and then two come along at once! Not that I suppose for one minute you were waiting for more photos of me looking awkward, but there you have it. It’s time for another outfit post, because as I mentioned in my last one, I have another outfit that I love. Well, a top that I love really. It’s true love too; I bought this top a week ago in Primark, and given the opportunity, I’d have worn it every day since. But that’s dirty, and probably unnecessary, so I have to be a grown up about it, and only wear it sparingly. Like once or twice a week.

How incredibly awesome is this t-shirt? Seriously, I am completely and utterly in love with it. It’s not just that it’s a Hogwarts t-shirt, though obviously that’s the crux of it, because I am and will always be a Harry Potter devotee. But look at the shape of it. It’s perfection, to me. I loved it when I saw it in the shop, because of the Hogwarts crest, but I felt like the 16, which is the size I would normally buy, looked massive. But they didn’t have a smaller size, so I got it and thought that I’d take it back if it wasn’t right. It’s so right. It’s so so so wonderful, I love the way I look in it. I want to wear it forever. I also bought the shoes and the bag on the same shopping trip, and I love them too. Especially the bag.

Specspost Pink Giraffe Glasses

I’m also wearing my new (ish) Specspost glasses. They were very kind to provide me with a pair of their glasses from their Animalistic range to review, and I have been wearing them for a while without having posted a review! I’m not generally one for animal print, but I loved that these were a giraffe print, and the subtle pinkness of them. I think they are super cool, and while they might be ever so slightly large for my face, I don’t care. I love the Specspost Animalistic range, so much so that I’m considering a pair of sunglasses, possibly these Orange Tiger ones.

Patterned Trousers are my Jam

It’s been so long since I did an outfit post! It was actually November, and the plan was to do at least one a month so that I could complete my 32 Before 32 goal of doing ten before my birthday. That sort of went by the wayside when I decided I wanted to take my blog off in a different direction. But I wanted to resurrect them slightly for two reasons. Firstly, my 32 Before 32 list is not going well, so it would be nice to try and get another one crossed off. And secondly, I have had a bit more money to spend lately, so I’ve bought a few new bits of clothing, and I have loved two recent outfits so much that I wanted to share them. So there’s this one today, and another one coming shortly!

Trousers ~ Peacocks
Top ~ Topshop (old)
Denim Jacket ~ Very old!
Sandals ~ Clarks

I’m having a major love affair with patterned trousers at the moment. I had one pair, also from Peacocks, from a few years ago, but they have seen better days, so I’ve been on the lookout for a few more pairs this year. I managed to pick up a pair in a charity shop a few weeks ago, and then I came across these on the sale rail in Peacocks. They were reduced to £9, but they only had one size smaller than my usual size, so I tried them on. I never, ever try anything on in shops, so it should give you some indication of how much I wanted these! They were a perfect fit, so they were mine! And when I went to the till, they were reduced even further, to £7. What a bargain.

Usually I apologise for face in outfit photos, but I’m not going to this time. I don’t think I look particularly awkward for once. And I actively like the second photo!

BEDN ~ What I Wore on my Birthday

Last week was my 31st birthday, and though I’ve mentioned it a couple of times on here (quite a few probably), it’s not really my style to do a ‘Look what I got for my birthday’ type of post. I got some lovely presents, and I’m very grateful for them, but I’m not going to devote a post to them!

But I did get dressed on my birthday with the intention of having my friend Hannah (who took me out for lunch) take some outfit photos. The main reason for this is that I wanted to show off my Mickey and Minnie Mouse tights, which you may remember from my Photo an Hour post last week. They have the official title of Best Tights in the World. I spotted them in Primark at Westfield when I was out with my sisters and dad recently, and when I said I liked them, my sister Kim bought them for me, because she’s a brilliant sister.

Blazer ~ Debenhams (from a charity shop)
Skirt ~ c/o F&F at Tesco
Top ~ Primark
Scarf ~ Yours
Boots ~ c/o F&F at Tesco
Tights ~ Primark
Bag ~ Primark

You see what I mean about the tights being the Best Tights in the World? I love them! Sadly, I got more than one hole in them after wearing them for just a day. They are quite thin, and I kept putting my finger through them when I tried to pull them up. Boo!

The photos were taken in Maldon, as they so often are. It was a very cold and windy day, hence the hair in my face! I am always so uncomfortable when I am posing for outfit shots that there are only usually one or two that are usable, and these were the best of a bad bunch!

I do love this outfit though. I love the blazer, because it was a charity shop bargain, and the scarf was a bargain at just 80p from Yours. It was reduced from about £8 too, so I was very pleased when I spotted it in their sale section!

This the first of at least ten outfit posts I plan to do as part of my 32 Before 32 list. I’m trying to get better at posing, and hopefully, there should be a noticeable difference between this, the first post, and the last one. We will see!
