Jane loves blogging

Hello all
I’ve been a bit remiss in my blogging duties lately. That’s because I’ve been caught up with my photo challenge, and I really want to try and do it all, rather than get halfway through and then give up. So I missed last week’s weekly post. But I’m back with this week’s, even though it’s not a particularly taxing one for me to write!
Make a top ten list of things to do this summer
I already have a list of things that I want to do before my birthday, as you all know. So some of these will be overlapping with that.
1. Make a dress from scratch
~ source ~
I’ve decided to cheat a little with making a dress from scratch, because this isn’t technically from scratch. It’s from a man’s shirt. I’ve been meaning to do it for ages, and I actually need to get around to it!
2. Play Rounders
I wanted to do this last year, and it never happened. It’s not very practical, because a) physical exertion and I aren’t exactly on close terms, and b) you need rather a lot of people to play rounders, and most people I know probably can’t be bothered.
3. Go camping
Anna, Jenny, Vicky and I are supposed to be attempting this at some point this summer, only plans have stalled somewhat while we all try to work out our availability. At one point, it seemed like the first weekend we were all going to be free was October. And I’m not camping in October.
4. Go to Brighton
Again, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. I have a friend who lives in Brighton, and a friend (Vicky) who lives in Chichester, which is close to Brighton. I also have a Gay Best Friend, who has told me that I can’t go to Brighton for the first time without him. So I have lots of options, I just need to arrange something!
5. Go to Felixstowe
My sister and I recently decided that we wanted to go to Felixstowe, in Suffolk for the day. We went there on holiday when we were younger, and I haven’t been back since. It looks like there might be a coach trip going, so Kim and I can be old ladies for the day and go out for a day trip.
6. Go swimming
I know that this might not sound like a particularly taxing goal to aim for, but I haven’t been swimming in ages. Also, no swimming costume is going to make me look good right now, so that’s something to consider.
7. Have a Harry-a-thon
~ source ~
This is something that is actually happening. Anna, Jenny, Vicky and I have this planned already. We’re terribly excited by the advent of the new Harry Potter film, and so to celebrate, we are all going to get together and watch films 1-7 in the couple of days beforehand.
8. Watch Fringe
I’ve heard nothing but good things about Fringe, and I figure the summer is a good time to catch up with it and try to get up to date. It probably won’t happen, but it’s a nice idea to set myself the goal of trying to get it done!
9. Make two Dorothy costumes
My nieces are obsessed with The Wizard of Oz, and for their birthdays in July, I want to make them a Dorothy dress each. I should probably get a move on with that, because times-a-wasting.
10. Roll down a hill
This is on my birthday list, and I figure that summer is the perfect time to attempt it. Also, I couldn’t think of a tenth thing.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
Until next time

Summer is a novel by Edith Wharton published in 1917 by Charles Scribner’s Sons. (Wikipedia)

It’s the Summer Ball at uni tonight. And the weather is seriously awful! Who would have thought that it was June? And Hayley from work is getting married today, so I feel bad for her, cos I am worrying enough about my hair tonight, never mind if I was a bride! Still, if the rain holds off then the photographer will be pleased because my dad always says that this kind of weather is the best for photos, too much sun isn’t a good thing! Of course the photographer is the only one thinking like that!

So I have my dress and my shoes (which I hate), both of which are recycled from previous uses, my dress is the one that I wore to the Summer Ball at work last year (the 2nd most horrible work do that I ever went to), and my shoes are a non-descript pair of black strappy heels, which don’t fit properly, are too high and are going to get stuck in the mud. But, I couldn’t find any that I liked to buy, and I don’t really have any money to be spending on new shoes, so I have to wear them.

I have reached the end of Series 3 of House, which is annoying as there is not even a release date for Series 4 on DVD yet. And it’s in the middle of its run on Ch5, so I can’t start watching it now. Grr! But, I suppose that gives me ample time to watch Sex and the City in it’s entirety, because I saw the film and loved it! And I also have to watch CSI Series 8, CSI: NY Series 3 and countless other television shows!
