I thought it was time to do a Miscellany post, which I haven’t done for ages. I haven’t necessarily felt the need to do one, because I had been posting so regularly. However, in the last few weeks, I have just been so busy that blogging has had to take a backseat. I hate it, because I had actually got to the point where I loved blogging, and everything was going so well, and then life got in the way!

So this week I am hoping to blog lots. I have a lot to say! It was my birthday yesterday, and as it was a big one I would like to do a post on it. With my birthday came the deadline for my 30 Before 30 list, and so I have to update you all on what I have managed to achieve there. And of course, I have a new list to work on, 31 Before 31! I am still working on it; I want to try and make this list even more achievable than the last one.

There’s also lots of other things going on! I have new glasses that I want to share with you, and there are a couple of reviews coming your way too. I have a whole list of posts that forthcoming, and I have some time this week to actually sit down and put them together.

In the meantime, here is a photo of my nephew, niece and me, pulling silly faces at the Lord Mayor’s Show.

Sorry for the radio silence recently; I’ve been rather busy and wasn’t organised enough to schedule any posts except for last week’s Tuesday Treat! So this is just a quick post to say hello, and hopefully normal order will be restored this week.

I went away on holiday last week with two of my friends, Anna and Jenny. We’ve enjoyed a few caravan breaks over the last few years; we’ve always taken advantage of the £9.50 deals that The Sun offer, but this year we’re lucky enough to know someone with a caravan of their own in Camber in East Sussex, so we went for a few days last week. Unfortunately our other friend Vicky couldn’t make it; organising anything where all four of us can been in the same room for one day is hard enough, but an extended period of time is almost impossible. So V had to miss out this time, but hopefully we’ll all get away together at some point this year!

Me and Anna at the caravan, being goons. For some reason I didn’t take many photos while we were away, and hardly any of Jen, because she notoriously hates almost every photo taken of her, even though they are all lovely because she’s beautiful.

Prior to my holiday, I went to a gig at my local pub, which was a lot of fun, and even better because I got to see Vicky, and it wasn’t something that was arranged months in advance. Jen wasn’t there (see what I mean), but we had good fun and managed to get rather drunk on white wine spritzers!

The band we saw were Skinny Machines. My dad, sister and brother-in-law, along with a few of their friends from the pub have recently become Skinny Machines groupies, following them around all over the place, so I’ve heard a lot about them but this was the first opportunity I had to actually hear them play. And very good they were too. They even played Superstition, which is my favourite song at the moment, so I was won over!

By the way, I am clearly wearing the same denim shirt in both of these photos. They were taken four days apart, and I can confirm that a) other clothes were worn in those four days, and b) the denim shirt is the only thing that is the same in the two photos. Just in case you were wondering. (I can also confirm that I love my denim shirt, and find it the perfect thing to wear over tops/dresses to finish off my outfit, and I have to resist the temptation to wear it almost every day.)

I also managed to have a very busy weekend, because my brother, sister-in-law and niece came to stay, and then it was Father’s Day, so most of my family were at my house yesterday to see my dad. It was actually the first time that all my siblings were together in a while, probably since Christmas, so we took the opportunity to get a photo. We don’t often have a photo of just the six of us, we’re usually only all together at Christmas (sad but true), and there’s just too much going on. But yesterday we were all sitting around in the garden, and so it was the perfect chance.

This is one of the shots, though not an ‘official’ one that my dad took – I haven’t seen that one yet. This is just one of the snapshots. I don’t love myself in it, but that’s a story for another day! I gave it a retro filter in Phixr, because I was trying to match it to this…

…which was taken in the same garden but only include four of us (my oldest and youngest siblings are missing!). It doesn’t quite match, but never mind!

Anyway, that’s what I have been up to recently, I’m hoping to post lots more this week, so stay tuned!

Hello all

Happy Easter! I know it’s a bit late in the day but I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely day, whether you celebrate or acknowledge Easter or not. I went to lunch at my sisters house, and it was nice to spend the afternoon with my nephews and niece, because for some reason, despite them living up the road, I don’t seem to see them that often! I haven’t eaten that much chocolate, but the day isn’t actually over yet!

I am writing this on my new laptop, which I have been given by a friend who had too many laptops! What a problem to have! So I am very grateful to him, because it means that I can lay on my bed and blog to my heart’s content, without being reliant on my dad’s computer. This should mean that the Tuesday Treat can be reintroduced. and at some point I am hoping to get a new blog name and makeover sorted! I know I keep going on about this, but I really want to get it sorted. Watch this space!

I’ve never had a webcam in my laptop before, and so I had to mess around with it a little.

Tomorrow I am off to see Titanic 3D with my friends Richard and Hannah. Richard has never seen it before, so once we knew it was being reissued, he decided to wait and actually see it at the cinema. I can’t decide if I think he’s going to enjoy it or not; I think that the problem with seeing it fifteen years (argh!) after it was first out is that you kind of probably know everything there is to know about it. Also there is a whole nostalgia element that goes along with so many favourite films, and without that it might be a little hard to really enjoy a film like Titanic. Still, we’ll see. Obviously I will enjoy it, and I am sure I will cry. I might even be going to see it a second time, it looks as though I’ll be going next weekend too with Anna, Vicky and Jen. Though we didn’t see it at the cinema together the first time round, we were all at school together at the time, and it was our generation that really went potty for it. Most teenage girls went overboard  for Leonardo, apart from me; I fancied Mr Andrews, and still do. Leonardo didn’t really start floating my boat until The Aviator.

What else is new in my world? Well yesterday I made a knitting needle case! This was very exciting because it’s probably the first thing that I have actually made on a sewing machine that wasn’t total rubbish. I had a lot of help from Anna, whose sewing machine it actually is, and I was really pleased with the result! I might blog about it in detail later this week.

So I really just wanted to write a post taking advantage of the fact that I now have a laptop, and the result is this! Have a fabulous Bank Holiday Monday everyone!

Hello all

There are just a few things that I wanted to post about, so I thought I’d resort to a Miscellany post for now. I am trying to gather lots of things together so that I can start posting on a much more regular basis, but it’s slow going and I haven’t been all that inspired lately. Thanks to all you readers who stick around and seem to enjoy reading what I have written.

In blog name news, I think I may have come up with a few options. I am umming and ahing about the idea of running a poll and letting you guys give me some feedback, but the thing with that is that I will probably end up going with the one I want regardless of the results of said poll. So I am going to make a final decision in the next few days, and will probably end up just changing the name of the blog one day, and that is all the notice you will get! The options that I have are all currently available as a WordPress URL, so it’s just a case of picking my favourite. Once the name is picked, I am also going to have to work on a new header for my blog, and, as you can probably see, I am not the world’s greatest artist/graphic designer (or whatever you want to call it). I would love some help in that area, but as I have no funds, I can’t afford to commission someone to do it for me. If you know of anyone that would be willing to help on a completely free basis (aside from advertising, I can of course promote said person all over the blog), please let me know! In the meantime, the header will probably be something fairly rudimentary that I can knock up myself on Photoshop.

By this time tomorrow I am hoping to have made a start on my 30 Before 30 list, by having baked a cake. It might count as a bit of a cheat, because I am going to bake one that I have baked before. However, it is one that I made at Christmas and gave away (four times, actually), and so technically my baking it on that occasion actually counts towards my ‘Ten Unique Cakes’ goal. However, I didn’t photograph the process or the cake, and nor did I actually get a chance to taste it, so I am doing it again for the purposes of the blog. It’s about time I actually made a start on this list, as we’re into February already, and I have nothing checked off.

Finally, I want to tell you about a competition that I have entered over at Mozzypop. It’s a fairly fabulous giveaway, to celebrate Dayner reaching 1000 followers (a figure I can only dream about and envy), and it’s running right now right over here. It’s really easy to enter, and in the time-honoured tradition of most blog giveaways, there are plenty of ways to gain extra entries (five, in fact). So hotfoot it over there now for your chance to win a Burgundy Satchel as the first prize (with loads of other stuff), or one of three runner-up prizes. Go on, do it now!

Oh, and actually finally, I am thinking about running another giveaway on here, maybe to coincide with the new name. The first giveaway I ran was fairly successful, and I had a lot of fun doing it. If anyone reading this is a creator/crafter of any kind, and would interested in teaming up with me for said giveaway, please contact me! You can do so using this form, or on Twitter.

Until next time

Hello all

Another day, another post! I told you I was going to try and get back into the swing of this blogging lark! It’s sad, because whilst I am not a numbers whore, I secretly liked the fact that my little WordPress chart was showing some pretty tidy numbers for a while back there, and now I seem to have lost a lot of those readers. Of course, I know that the only way to get them back to is to post a lot and say things that people might find interesting, so prepare yourself for some hardcore blogging!

I am pleased to announce that I have managed to cross another item off my birthday list! This weekend, as it was Guy Fawkes Night, I had a Bonfire/Fireworks Party! There was no bonfire, so that’s a bit of a misnomer, but there were lots of fireworks, even more food, and a lot of my favourite people. I took lots of photos, but it’s been absolutely ages since I used my camera, and I seem to have lost any ability I once had to take a decent photograph. So most of them came out rather blurry. I will be doing a post and including the ones that didn’t, and as just about everyone there had a camera, I might borrow a few shots! As for my list, that’s now five items crossed off. Which is pathetic, considering it is my birthday next weekend (5 days!), and I don’t have a hope of completing any more! Ah well, I’ll just try again next year.

Talking of my birthday, of course I’m super excited! I have a fun weekend planned – Saturday is going to be spent in London at the Lord Mayor’s Show (a family tradition as it’s always on Remembrance Weekend, which of course always falls close to my birthday), and then on Sunday, I have a surprise outing that my friends are organising. I know that I am doing something, I have no idea what it is, so I am very excited for that too! My birthday will be bit different this year, but I hope that I can still enjoy it.

In other news, I have still been toying with the idea of changing the name of my blog. I even went as far as to mess around on Photoshop creating a new header with a new name, and then I realised that I should check if there is already a WordPress blog using the URL. Of course there is, so that’s on the backburner for now. I’m still working on it though, so I’ll let you know as soon as it can go ahead!

I hope everyone is well, and enjoying autumn (or of course summer, or whatever season it is where you are). I love hearing from you all, so if you have anything to say to me, get in touch! Follow me on Twitter – I’m not especially funny, and maybe I’m not terribly interesting, but I tweet a lot, so if quantity over quality counts for anything, you can find me here!

Until next time
