32 Before 32 ~ The Almost Ones

There were quite a few items on my 32 Before 32 list that were ongoing, that couldn’t be crossed off after one day. That’s the way I justified to myself that I wasn’t crossing much off; they would be crossed off, it was just going to take time.

That didn’t really work out so well. I managed a couple, but there were quite a few that started off OK, and then fell by the wayside.

Do ten outfit posts
I managed just four outfit posts! The whole point was that I wanted to be more comfortable with posing for outfit shots, and I like the idea of including more ‘What I Wore’ posts on this here blog. It obviously didn’t work out, for various reasons. It’s always such an effort to take the photos – I have to get someone else to take them (usually Hannah), because if I try and do it myself, the awkwardness levels go through the roof. There’s also the fact that I don’t really buy that many clothes these days, and photos of me wearing my old, boring clothes would be, well, boring. But I’m still going to try and include more posts of me wearing clothes, because I do like them. I particularly like the photos of me wearing my two Harry Potter tees. I’m really pleased that I have them!

Read ten books from 1982
I’m really sad that I failed on one of my reading challenges. My A-Z book challenge from last year was one of my favourites, so I really wanted to do well on this one too. One of the reasons I only got halfway through on this one is that I struggled to find many books from the year I was born that I really wanted to read. I made lists, and found that a lot of the books that I could get hold of were romance books. Romance books these days aren’t really my cup of tea, but if you go back to the early 80s, you’re talking seriously cheesy Mills and Boons types. Not my thing at all. I was pleased to realise that The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole and The BFG were both published in 1982, so I tore through both of them, but them I just found myself lacking in inspiration. I tried to read Lace, by Shirley Conran, but didn’t get very far, and I had a whole pile from the library, but it just didn’t happen. I actually have more book challenge plans, but that’s for another time. I may end up completing this challenge at some point in the future!

Learn every world capital
I came really, really close to completing this. In fact, I technically did complete it. But I forgot to write the blog post about it, and then when I remembered, I realised that I had probably forgotten some of the capitals! I didn’t want to write a post pretending I knew them all when secretly I knew I didn’t, and then I didn’t get time to relearn them. The thing with world capitals is that I need to keep revising it, or some of them fall out of my head.

Watch a television series from Empire’s Greatest 50 TV Shows of All Time
I started off with this one; I started watching Battlestar Galactica, and I was really enjoying it. I don’t really know why I didn’t carry on with it, because it’s really good. In fact, I’m sure I’ll go back to it at some point, but I didn’t watch all four series in time to cross it off this list.

Even if I had crossed off these four items, it still wouldn’t have been a stellar effort, but it would have been marginally better! I’ll be back tomorrow with a round-up of the whole thing, to let you know my final total. And then it will be time to launch 33 Before 33!

I know what you mean about outfit posts, I’d love to do more of them but I feel so silly prancing around in front of the camera. Andrew ends up taking about 50 pictures and I’m lucky if there’s even a couple of good ones in there! You’re right though, the only way to feel more comfortable is to do it – hmm, perhaps I should nick your ’10 outfit posts’ item and stick it on my ’33 before 33′ list? 🙂 xx

You definitely should! Even though I failed miserably, I do think I’m getting a little better with posing. I try to do them on my own, but I can’t – I need someone to take them for me to make me feel a little bit more at ease! Really I should ask my dad, who is a professional photographer, but I’d feel really silly!
