Girls’ Night In ~ Book Review

Last week, when a book-shaped package arrived in my letterbox, I was very excited, because I’ve been waiting for this for a while. Girls’ Night In, by Hannah Read-Baldrey, is one of those books that you will flick through for ages and ages, saying “Ooh, that looks nice!” and “What a great idea!” That’s what I did, anyway, and then my sister did the same when I showed it to her!

As you can see, the idea behind the book is that it contains everything you need for a fun girls’ night in. I personally have always been a fan of a night in over a night out. My nights in tend to involve food, films and chatting very late into the night, but this book takes things to a whole new level!

The book gives loads of food ideas; I love the Borough Market Mini-Burgers and Chips (anything in miniature is instantly cute) and the Rustic Pizza recipes.

No girls’ night in is complete with lots of food that you know you shouldn’t be eating, so there are lots and lots of recipes for cakes and sweet things. My favourite ideas are the Candyfloss Cupcakes and also the Cupcake in a Cone.

As well as food, there are loads of crafty ideas, including Freezer Paper T-Shirts, which I am desperate to try, and a Make-Up Brush Roll, which is fairly similar to the knitting needle roll I made myself last year.

There are hair and make-up tutorials, party games, beauty and jewellery DIYS, cocktail recipes and even instructions to make your own Showgirl Tassels! At the back of the book there are also loads of helpful templates to assist you with the DIYS.

Hannah Reid-Baldrey has put together a fabulous book that also looks great – she’s a successful stylist as well as an author and you can really tell. This book would be a lovely present for your best friend or sister, as long as she promised to invite you round to try out some of the recipes and DIYS! There is also a website to accompany the book, where you can watch video tutorials, and find Hannah’s perfect Girls’ Night In soundtrack. The book is out now and is £16.99.

  1. For some reason…this makes me miss my sister! Have to agree with all the pro-mini-burger votes. They call them ‘sliders’ Stateside. Let us know if you try the ginger drink! 🙂

    1. It’s funny, my sister said she liked the look of the book so I have plans to make some things out of it when I next see her! So maybe there is something about this book and sisters that just works!
