Jane loves blogging

Hello all

It’s weekly post time again, albeit a little late. I had another look at the WordPress Daily Post prompts, and none of them have particularly inspired me, again. So I’ve gone back to NaBloPoMo, and they have provided me with the following prompt:

Who is your favourite character from a book, play, film, or other work of art?

As questions go, this is right up there with “What’s your favourite song?” in terms of trickiness. I’ve read a lot of books and plays, and seen a lot of films (as well as having seen quite a few plays), and picking just one is hard. Just off the top of my head, I can think of the following:

  • Matilda Wormwood (Roald Dahl),
  • Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter)
  • Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte)
  • Darrel Rivers (Mallory Towers)
  • R2-D2 (Star Wars)
  • Dory (Finding Nemo)
  • Boo (Monsters, Inc.)
  • Liesl (The Sound of Music)
  • Petrova Fossil (Ballet Shoes)
  • Henry Higgins (My Fair Lady)
  • Severus Snape (Harry Potter)
  • Earl of Gloucester (King Lear)
  • Red (The Shawshank Redemption)
  • Woody (Toy Story)
  • Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice)
  • Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings)
  • Lyra Belacqua (His Dark Materials)
  • Marjorie Winfield (By the Light of the Silvery Moon)
  • Gandalf (The Lord of the Rings)
  • Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
  • Lumière (Beauty and the Beast)
  • John Bender (The Breakfast Club)
  • Sherlock Holmes (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)
  • Emma Woodhouse (Jane Austen)
  • Bridget Jones (Helen Fielding)

Like I said, this is just a short list of some of the characters I like. If I was pushed really, really hard, I’d probably go for Matilda or Lizzy Bennet, but it’s too hard. I love them all for different reasons. At some point in the future I might dedicate an entire post to a few different characters from the list, and elaborate on why I love them so much. I’m sure you’ll all be waiting with bated breath for that!

Until next time!
